Five day travel-

From Haiti to South Africa we had a total of 5 travel days. A total of 93 hours until we arrived at our destination in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

It was exciting, then tiring, and then I was finally like “just get me to my destination! I am ready for the next step now”.

One of the best things that happened during those travel days is that we had a layover in Boston, Massachusetts. My family is totally amazing! Two of my sisters, Edna and Wilma, and Mom came to see me. They carpooled with Charity’s family and we had a happy fun mini family reunion. It was a blast to just spend time with them, catch up on everything and see and feel them in real life!!! They brought us some of our favorite foods to eat and enjoy! As well as some to take with me for me and my team to enjoy.

I didn’t realize how dear and precious family is until I am separated from them for quite some time. That is when I actually am seeing how much I depend on them for everything. Seriously for everything! I let them carry my burdens with me, we work and strive together, we know what each other is feeling and thinking without saying any words. We are just plain ourselves whether we are being moody, or hurt, or happy, or screaming. We know in the end we have each other’s back. Then I have to ask why are we ok with each other in our messes. Why?? I believe its because we choose to love. We trust each other and it didn’t happen overnight it has been years.

So in all of this I have been struggling a lot about not having my biological family ( I know in spirit they are) in my daily presence. In saying that, I realize that I now have the choice of choosing my family. I can choose my teammates or whoever I come in contact with and my walls of family will just be broadened.

This month serving in South Africa I choose my teammates especially! The rest will come as I open my heart and hands and let God unfold the petals slowly one at a time.

Thank you so much for praying for me! I love you all!
