So last week my team and two other teams got and awesome opportunity to travel 6 hours away to go to the jungle and work with indigenous people! The lord gave me this desire many years ago and I can’t believe I actually got to go.
In today’s high tech, globally connected world it’s hard to fathom that people still haven’t heard the gospel.
How can I make a difference in reaching the world for Christ? Come to people with the love of Jesus.
When we finally arrived in Talamanca. After a long journey. We saw vast amounts of trees and a beautiful Mountain view in the distance. A sense of freedom on the open land and thoughts and imagination of what life looked like long ago. The excitement of getting to share the love of Jesus with the Bri Bri’s (that’s what the people are called) filled my heart. We settled in on our first night and got orientated on what we where going to do these next couple of days.
I woke up early the next morning to light peering trough the window and my bed looking messy and a mind filled with dreams. It’s 7 am and time for devos & worship which we did every morning.
We walked around and learned about the history and acquainted ourself with the land as the air was humid and the stillness of the jungle was so peaceful.
As each day looked different. My favorite time was when we set out to go hiking through the jungle. We even had rain boots. It’s the real deal. My mind was like where are we going? does someone actually live back here? We walked and saw terrain scenery stepping over muddy paths of unrealized dreams and evidence of empty promises of modern life. We arrived to this mans Jorge’s house. Were we brought the local church and our group. We rejoiced with the people as I was so joyful I got up and starting dancing with the lord and the locals. Pedro the pastor of the church gave a devotional and reminded us the lords love even in difficult circumstances.
We ended our time and prayed over Jorge and he was healed over the pain he experienced in his knees. Little back story- this man has been experiencing knee pain for about a decade, and wants to go to church but it’s difficult to get there as it’s very far and long. instead of quitting and not going this mans walks hours to go to church to praise the lord!
I will go wherever you lead and give whatever you ask. This is what it means to be a disciple. we have lost our lives in Christ, and we gladly surrendered our ways to his will. Getting to walk with Jesus. And if we walk with him, if our lives are swallowed up into his own, we’ll go the right way.
Later; Elle
