Dear Friends and Family,

As I am finishing up my bachelor’s degree in psychology at Cornell College, I have some exciting next steps. I have been accepted to a Christian mission trip called the World Race for which I will be leaving in January 2019. With graduation being in December of 2018, it will be a quick turnaround leaving for the race in January. After my first international mission trip my freshman year of high school, I knew that I had a real passion for missions and evangelism and have been pushed to become a short-term missionary. This trip will give me a great chance to see if long-term mission work is in God’s plan for me.

The World Race is an 11-month Christian mission trip to 11 countries around the world. One of the unique things about the World Race is that it’s not only a mission trip but also an intensive discipleship program designed to help me grow in my faith and relationship with God. I will be traveling to the following 11 countries: Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Botswana, Swaziland, Lesotho, and South Africa between January 11th and November 30th. Although I am nervous about leaving my family and the comfort of the United States for almost a whole year, I am very excited to be able to spread the love of God to all nations! Through the World Race, my team and I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, and bring the hope of God’s love to many tribes and nations. Our ministry will look different in every country, but will most likely include some of the following: orphan care, street ministry, rehabilitating women rescued from the sex trafficking industry, disaster relief, caring for the homeless, serving in refugee camps, evangelism, church planting, and hospital visits. We will survive on a very limited budget of about $4 a day for food and lodging. We will carry everything we need for a year in backpacks and often sleep in tents.

Primarily, I would like to ask for your prayer support. The World Race will be one of the most challenging but rewarding experiences I will ever embark on. I know that I will rely heavily on prayer throughout this journey and would appreciate your help as well. My personal requests include: strength and courage to become a servant to God, that God will unite my team and I as we become each other’s family and support systems for the next year, that God will prepare me for the challenges of adjustment to different cultures every month and the hardships that come with each, and that He will provide the necessary financial support.

I will face many challenges throughout the World Race, but as I prepare for my departure, one of my greatest challenges is my financial support. Like most other missions organizations, World Race participants are required to fundraise financial support. Being that I will be traveling, serving, and living on three different continents during the 2019 year, I need to raise quite a bit of money. In order to leave fully funded in January, I need to raise $18,200. This money will cover all my field expenses for the 11 months of the trip. As I take this large step of faith in trusting the Lord, would you consider supporting me financially either as a one-time gift or monthly? Whether you donate $10 or $100 monthly, each contribution is incredibly helpful!

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 28:19

 Yours in Christ,

Elisabeth
