This past week my squad and I traveled to South Africa for something we call awaken, where we meet up with another squad and spend the weekend learning deeper ways of worship, evangelizing, storytelling, interceding, and my group that myself and another girl from my squad with two people from O squad were in charge of it which was hospitality. We served the meals, welcomed people into worship, and wrote little notes for people. For evangelizing we went to a mall and walked around praying for people. We saw a older lady with knee problems so we went up to her and asked what the pain level she had was, She said 15 so we prayed two times and she said it went down to a 7 so we prayed two more time and she said it felt so much better. She was bending her knees in amazement. After we walked away we looked back and saw her and her husband looking at her knees trying to figure out what just happened. Awaken has taught me go deeper into seeking people out showing Jesus to them in a mall, park, a bus anywhere really and to know it doesn’t have to be this big scary thing to go up to someone and ask if you can pray for them. If they say no it’s something you don’t need to take personally. Awaken has opened my eyes in deeper ways to love people.
