Hi friends! My name is Danielle Hernandez and I am currently a first year at the Savannah College of Art and Design studying Architecture and Interior Design. I am 19 years old and live in Florida but I am currently at school in Savannah, Georgia. My story about the race is a fun one and is summarized in my blog “A world race prayer”! check that out if you want a story about my struggle which ultimately led me to say yes to the race!
Since this is a “get to know me blog”, I figured I would do a 10 Fun Facts about me! sooooo here we go!
1. I am an active dog enthusiast! my dogs are my pride and joy. I have one mutt named biscuit, a mutt named Gigi and a chihuahua named joey! The best thing EVER is coming home after a long day and getting to see the joy of your pups waiting at the door for you.
2. I played soccer for 13 years of my life and I am so ready to tear it up with all of the kids we will meet in the soccer heavy countries. It’s so fun to play with those kids and, ultimately, have a 9-year-old Guatemalan boy humble you on the field.
3. I have always been an artistic person. I have probably painted my bedroom a total of 7 times in my lifetime and I think that’s where my love of interior design began. I love to paint with acrylic and watercolor and I love doodling over every surface ever. i also like to take pictures and do anything “diy”
4. I adore music and jam sessions are amazing but I am not musically gifted AT ALL. Can’t sing, can’t play any instruments, can’t read music. all I can do is appreciate it, and I do. One of my all-time favorite Christian bands is Kings Kaleidoscope. if you don’t listen to them, I HIGHLY recommend.
5. I went through many phases of my life when I was growing up. One time, I was convinced that I was going to be a nail tech. Then after that I decided I would own the best bakery ever. I also wanted to design duct tape anything. I have always been a creative weirdo.
6. SCAD has been my dream school since 6th grade! it is such a privilege to go to school here and learn from some of the best creative minds in the industry!
7. I am absolutely terrified of sunflowers. Don’t ask me why, I can’t explain. I just hate them.
8. My brother and I are Irish Twins! We are 360 days apart, so for 5 days every year we are the same age which is actually pretty cool. When we were younger, we had joint birthday parties and one of the most successful parties was our “backwards” birthday party. we all wore our clothes backward and did everything in reverse order.
9. I love adventure and all things adrenaline. I am a roller coaster fanatic, and i will try almost anything adventurous at least once. I’d say i am pretty adventurous with food too. I am currently vegetarian which has allowed for a lot of food experimentation and it’s always fun trying something new.
10. I L O V E the Lord with all of my heart! He has provided for me in ways that are not even comprehensible, His mercies for me (and everyone) are so new every day and His love has been such a faithful reminder of how worth it I am. He has calmed every anxiety, answers prayers faithfully, and has given me a peace that is indescribable. I am so thankful for this live I live and the opportunity I have been given to serve globally.
