Before my time on the race, I always though that I was never experiencing the Holy Spirit working in my life. This assumption was true to some extent but mostly  because I was not actively seeking for Him to be present in my life. I guess I always assumed that saying I believed and not actively engaging with the Holy Spirit would still lead me to experience the awesome power. Since I have been able to be in the word and communicating with the Lord daily, I have seen the power of the Holy Spirit at work in me in different areas of my life.

The first place that I have seen this evident in my life happened this past week in our morning devotional time lead by Stephanie from Ocean’s Edge. Before the start of devotional Stephanie found me and asked me if I would read a passage to the group in the morning. I accepted the task to read Psalms 51 not knowing what the passage said beforehand. I went to my room to quickly read this psalm and was moved by what it said after reading. This psalm is about and his sin against Bathsheba and the guilt he felt. David felt the pain and hurt from these sins but asked God to renew his heart and soul so that he could use this to lead others to Christ. This passage spoke to me in way Stephanie would not have known unless the Holy Spirit put it on her heart to have me read this.

The reason Psalm 51 spoke to me is because i have been struggling with past sins in my life holding me back from sharing the love of God to others. In reading this, the words of David showed me that I needed to be cleansed from this guilt that I have been harboring. I also felt that I need to teach others how God can wash us clean and let others know like verse 15 says: “O Lord, opens my lips and my mouth will declare your praise.” The Holy Spirit worked through Stephanie and this passage is one area that I have seen Him working on me.

The next area I have seen the Holy Spirit working on me was in a guided meditation lead by our squad mentor, Allison, one night. We sat down for our squad meeting for the night and Allison led us in this time. She asked us leading questions and we were to envision the scene in our mind. Many times I have tried to do these exercises and are unable to envision anything. This night was different and I felt that the Holy Spirit was in my presence and working through me during this time. The details of this time I spent in guided meditation is to lengthy for today but may come in a later post.

These are just two of more notable times I have seen the Holy Spirit working on me. I love that I have been able to see this unlike the past where I did not feel His presence in my life. I also hope that I can continue to draw closer and closer to his presence and eventuallly see him working in my everyday life and not on just some occasions.
