As the we waited for the flights at the airport, the fears started to kick in. The fear of the unknown, the fear of danger, and the fear that i was going to be alone for eleven months. Although these fears may have not been evident in my face, they were definitely going through my head. The phrase “God is good all the time” popped into my head as we waited at check in to board for our first flight to Panama.

This was not the only time the phrase had popped into my since the start of the race. Before our first flight we were given information that our large packs had to be 40 pounds or less or there would be a fee. So having packed for a whole year, i was going to be over the limit. Although this wasn’t an pricey fee, just the thought that the trip started this way was tough to think about. However, God was good in this moment as well. Due to a rush at the check in counter, none of the bags were weighed, a relief to many of us on the squad.

After two short flights and short layover we arrived at the Panama City airport where we started the journey of eleven months. Stepping out into lobby after receiving our luggage i was faced with another fear. This one was how were we as a team were going to get from Panama City to Los Sorenos, a 11 hour trip, by ourselves. God once again stepped in with a man named Tony from the states, who took care of us from the airport to the arrival at our host farm.

After reflecting over these last couple day a couple verses popped up in my mind about these recent events.

Psalms 55:22  “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you: he will never let the righteous  be shaken.”

Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation , by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

These verses were an encouragement to me to cast all my fears to the Lord and he will provide for me.
