The people that know me from my hometown would tell you that I’m reserved when it comes to making friends. My friends and family would also say that showing affection is not a regular occurance from  me. However, these ten days of “roughing it” with my squad at training camp allowed me to bond with them in a way  that normally takes  me a couple weeks. I now have people I call family from all around the world.

These people from my squad live from Pennsylvania to California and Texas to North Dakota and in between. There is even 2 that live ”across the pond.” In these 10 days, we experienced all types of emotions. These included laughing, crying,  being anxious, and being courageous. After experiencing all these emotions in such a short time frame allowed us to become a close family of believers.

After reading the blogs from my other squad-mates and the night around the campfire, I noticed we all had some fears during this time. The time we had to share our fears and ”throw them in the fire” was a time that I felt like I grew close together with my new family that I will be spending the next 11 months with. The times that the leadership on our squad prayed over me specifically on things that answered fears in my heart showed me that this is my family.

I just want to thank my new family as well as my friends and family at home. I cant wait for this new journey that will start in August.
