This blog was written by Sarah Dickmann! I added the section about her and changed some of the details about others so they better fit my love for each women individually!
Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. Colossians 2:6-7
Team Changes!!! It marks the end of month 4 and the beginning of month 5 for us here on L Squad. Without further ado, here is my new team: 42 DEEP
Rachel, 23
Rachel and I hit it off right away when we met at training camp and kept in touch during our time between then and launch. She hails from the great state of Chicago (pronounced Shi-cah-go)…oh wait, I meant Illinois. Rachel loves dark chocolate, coffee, pizza, and deep conversations. She lovingly, but directly (yay!), calls others higher and isn’t afraid to share her heart. Her love and enthusiasm for the Lord, others, and Africa shines out in her smile and words. Fun fact: She prefers gelato over ice cream.

CeCe, 21
CC is a hard core extrovert from the beautiful state of Tennessee. She hates coffee, LOVES candy (any kind), and is always ready with a hug. Free in sharing who she is, CC doesn’t hold back in communicating her love for the Lord. I was at first overwhelmed by her outgoing personality and enthusiasm but I am quickly seeing how she is a perfect part of the kingdom. She is a true example of what child like faith looks like as she is passionate about sharing it with the people on the sides of the road, the ladies who wash our laundry, or the many bagging our groceries. I am so excited to see how God continues to work and change her and can’t wait to continue building a friendship! Fun fact: CC talks in her sleep…very loudly…

Fabienne, 23
Fabienne (Fabi) our fearless team leader. She is from the beautiful country of Switzerland, loves running, exploring, wine, and chocolate. Fabi is such a blessing from the Lord and has a deep love for Him and His word. She amazes me with her quiet wisdom and her relentless pursuit of knowing God more intimately. I’m excited to watch her embrace her new role and support her as my new team lead! Fun fact: she brings German words into the English language…like kakerlake (pronounced kah-cuh-lah-kee) = cockroaches.

Christy, 26
Dog lover, yoga instructor, chef extraordinaire, and Jesus follower. Christy was someone I intentionally sought to get to know better at training camp as her infectious laughter and big heart for Christ was attractive from the very first day I met her. She has such a huge heart for others and serves with an energy that I cannot keep up with sometimes (she is a powerhouse for Jesus)! Such an incredible heart motivated by the love of the Father. I’m so thankful to be getting more one-on-one time with Christy in the coming months. Fun fact: She loves brewery tours and trying craft beers. Christy is trying a beer from each country we’re visiting on the race. (written by Sarah Dickmann)

Sarah, 34
Beautiful from the inside out, lover of all humans that are small, running and full of confidence and poise this is Sarah! She was one of my first friends on our squad. She is always found with her journal or a baby in hands. Loving to dig deeper into what the Lord has for her she is such an inspiration to me. She runs fearlessly after her relationship with the Lord, as well as up and down the hills of Africa. As she is one of many children she has really brought that into our team making sure to see and love each one of us individually. I am so glad I get some time to get to know her better and on a deeper level. Fun Fact: She gave up her daily use of hair gel for the race and looks as beautiful as ever without it!

42 Deep: the meaning behind our team name is threefold. First, CeCe read the Colossians verses (quoted at the beginning of my blog) and challenged and encouraged our team to deeply root ourselves in Christ. Second, our team leader envisioned our team entering a jungle or ocean. She described our last teams as the initial explorers of the outer edges of the jungle or surface of the ocean, while our new team is plunging in. Moving deeper and deeper into the darkest parts of the jungle/ocean and allowing God to light our ways and to light up his creation. Finally, Psalm 42:1 says
- As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God.
Our team agreed, we want to be seeking after God as a team, panting for more of who He is and what He wants us to learn, individually and collectively. And thus, 42 Deep was born.
(Our first team meeting was at a clinic in Uganda. Praise the Lord, CeCe didn’t have malaria!)

I am a little late in posting this.. We have been together fro almost 2 months now and are still growing and pressing into each other. As getting close to and living in community with new people brings challenges it also brings some truly amazing growth and insight. God has us each here together for a reason and I am so thankful I get the opportunity to be pushed and to grow with these beautiful women. Please continue to keep us all in your prayers as we move into Asia and continue to pray into what the Lord has for us.
