You know those things that you think you’ve learned but then a situation comes up and you react just like you did in that past? Yup, that’s where I’m at! This whole comparison thing is a hard lesson to learn! To me one of the most difficult lessons I’ve been learning is how to celebrate others in anything and everything, regardless of whats going on with me. How to listen to what they are saying, and truly be happy and excited to hear what they have to say without creating my own opinion or idea in return.

Recently our team sat down and thought about a Bible character that we could relate to or learn something from. After thinking and searching for a while, I eventually landed on Caleb. Caleb was one of the men chosen to go inspect the land that the Lord was giving them. After they returned, bringing some fruit back with them, the majority of the men reported that the people in that land were much stronger and bigger. Caleb then silenced the crowd and said to take the land!

The other men compared themselves to the people in the promise land. They forgot all the Lord had done for them in the past, and they forgot who the Lord told them they were. They overlooked the fruit they were holding and the great things they saw. They only saw the men and the problems in their way of obtaining the land.

Caleb in fear of being rejected or thinking that what he saw wasn’t right, could have stood outside the Promised Land and compromised. He could have went along with what the other men said.

Instead Caleb said:

the land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good. If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us. Only do not rebel against the Lord, And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will swallow them up. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of them.” Numbers 14:7-9

This brought me to the questions, Am I willing to do what I know is right in order to see the Promised Land even if I’m the only one who can see it? And am I able to celebrate others when they reach the Promised Land in their own lives?

The Lord showed me Caleb as an example of how to walk confidently in who I am and not compare myself with others. To remember who I am and who the Lord says I am, to look past the problems and look back on what the Lord has done for me, to see the fruit that I am holding in my hands, and how to celebrate others and what the Lord has done for them as well!

This was a really cool activity that we did as team. The Word is alive and speaks to us all in different ways. Ask the Lord what He wants you to learn and what person from the Bible that you can relate to!

Thank you so much for supporting me and following my journey. God has done some amazing things in the first 7 months already and I can’t wait to see how much more He will do!

Prayer requests:
  • That God goes before us and prepares the hearts of those we will encounter.
  • Abundance and growth for the ministries that we will be partnering with.
  • That God continues to work and magnify His greatness through the people He has faithfully planted here.
  • Adjusting to elevation
