Hello everyone!
I have had many people ask me, “Why go out across the world when there is plenty of needs closer to home?” or “Don’t you think that asking for this money will hurt local families who need it more?”
How does one simply ask and work towards gaining $20,000? Not only $20,000, but additionally another few thousand for supplies and gear in order to last 11 months away from home?
Growing up in a small town, people would think it would be very easy to go and ask neighbors and churches for help and support. But when you know that in that small town there are people who are trying to get dinner for the night or find a way to get their child lunch for school the next day, how do you go out and ask for this? Yes I know that I’m not asking for this $20,000 to go run around and vacation for 11 months, but none the less is my mission abroad really more important than the many needs all around me? I can’t really answer that, because to me I am being called to go abroad and serve others in a way that many don’t have the opportunity to. I sit at home and think about the many people all of the world that I have the chance to help and interact with and wonder what might happen if I don’t go on my mission and don’t take this chance to better others lives. What if I don’t go and there’s a family that never gets the chance to hear about the Gospel? Or never gets the chance to teach their young child English which they need to know in order to buy and sell goods to feed their family?
I would never want to affect any families from my community by asking for money, but without your help how can I reach my goal and reach those around the world who may need help? I don’t want to go door to door and ask families to help support me and risk hurting a family who may need the money they feel obligated to donate. Instead, I want to ask you personally, Do you have the ability to help my mission? Do you know of someone or a company who has the will and ability to help my mission? I need your help to make this miracle happen!

I will work towards gaining and raising as much as I can, but without the help and support of my community, friends, and family, I won’t be able to do it.
