More updates on ministry and what we do,

There’s always construction where we usually move tons of bricks. It makes it easier for the workers if we move them from one huge stack to a bunch of smaller stacks near where they are working. I have also washed sand… this sand has rocks in it, so first you have to sift those out with this 2 person sifter thing. Then the sand gets scooped up and put in a tub of water, drain the water and the sand is ready to go.

We have also taught school. My team got split up into our own classrooms and had the opportunity to teach. The teachers were there to assist when we needed them. My kids colored vegetables, worked in a work book and learned to write 6 = Six and 7 = Seven. I even got to grade their books, the kids were super excited to bring me their work, get a high five and run to recess.  I was tackled and tickled and pulled in all the directions but my class had fun!

On Saturdays we do one day VBS. On these days we all have to pull our brains together to keep these kids entertained. We usually start with a song and dance then we do a bible story turned skit and end with games. Every Saturday these kids get this mango juice stuff that is super stick, it doesn’t matter if I drink it, serve it, or just look at it but it ends up on me every time.

Preschool ministry the one day I am talking about was these kids VERY FIRST day of school… EVER. This was the most traumatic day of their lives (and probably mine)
We got split into classrooms my room had 17 kids, 15 were screaming at all times. I had kids jumping at the window and stacking chairs to unlock the door.  On the first 3 days they only stay for an hour and a half then it gradually gets longer until they stay all day. The teachers said by day 3 they have made friends and it isn’t as bad.

ohhh and there’s wedding crashing

Last Friday my team was supposed to be going to a school, but we found out the school would be closed due to a wedding happening, so our contacts here said we could go to the wedding! We got all dressed up, a few girls got traditional wrap skirts and we crashed! The wedding was long,  a few things were like a wedding in the states but it was different. After the wedding, we went to the brides house, picked up all of her stuff and took it to the grooms house, where there was a feast!  A feast of pork gravy stuff (there was still hair on the skin of the pork) and this other gravy stuff that was sausage and organs. An interesting meal.

Working at the hospital, I’ve only done this once but I enjoyed it! we prayed over people then folded cotton into gauze to make bandages. Of course we washed our hands first.. stay sanitary.  ( I’m basically a nurse haha, just kidding)

Kitchen duty! once a week we walk up to the meal tent early and help Dara make the meals for the day. Breakfast can very from french toast to just toast oatmeal or roti and lentil sauce stuff. Lunch can be soup, pb&j, grilled cheese or noodles. And dinner usually always has potatoes. Basically we hangout all day with Dara, cut whatever he says to cut, peel some potatoes and wash the dishes after every meal.

Agape, Agape is a rehab center. Once again I’ve only been once but had so much fun! We had devos with the guys there and played volleyball until we had to leave. So much
fun!

Please be in prayer for my squad as we will be leaving for Guatemala in just a couple weeks.

Until Next Time,
