It’s crazy how it feels like I’ve been here in Colombia for so long. Yet also the fact that we leave in a week seems like our time here flew by. The ministry we are working with is doing some amazing things and God is at work here in Medellin. I have so many things I could say but for now I will tell you what happened today.
Today we were given the opportunity to go and speak to students in a school (8th-11th grade). We had 6 different topics, The World Race, The Foundation (the ministry we are working at), the power of words, our identity, the there here path, and prevention.
I was assigned prevention. At first I did not realize I was talking about drugs, sex, and alcohol. But, the Lord gave me the words to say and I was able to share part of my testimony and tell these students that all the things we try to use to fill the void inside of us always end up leaving us empty and broken. That we are left alone to pick up all the pieces, but there’s hope. Jesus can fill the void that is inside of all of us. He changed my life, He showed me that I have value, that I am loved and that He sent His Son to die for me so that I could be forgiven.
I don’t know what will come from what we all shared today but I do know that seeds were planted. What an opportunity to walk into a school and be able to share with them and use Bible verses and talk about Jesus.
There aren’t enough teachers here and so when a student falls behind they end up getting held back, so there were ages 10-14 in our 8th grade class that my group specifically taught. So please be praying that more teachers will come to these schools so that the students can get help when they are falling behind. Pray that this would be the first of many school visits and that more doors would be open for other World Race teams that come here. That our stories will stay in the minds of the students so that they would keep wondering about Jesus and turn their lives over to him.
Medellin has a huge drug & homeless population but I told the students today, our environment doesn’t have to define us, but it can.
Fundraising update!! i reached my next goal! I am now in the home stretch to raise $5,000 more to be fully funded! I am so blessed by each and every one of my supporters and could not be more thankfully for the opportunity to get to serve the Lord in all of these countries.
