Back in 2017 while serving the Lord in Nicaragua I clearly heard Him calling me to missions. Two years later here I am back in Nicaragua doing that exact thing. Little did I know how much this country had made an impact on my life. Being back here has filled my heart with so much happiness and has reminded me of God’s faithfulness and all the many things the spoke to me both times I had been in this country.
For the past 7 months I have been serving the Lord across the world. I spent the first three months in South East Asia and then was in Africa for three months and am now in central America. I found that I was able to get by first 6 months because although not all of them spoke English a majority of them did. Here on the other hand is a different story. You won’t find many people who know English. I am really excited about this because with the next 5 countries being Spanish-speaking I am forced to learn the language. Lord willing by month 5 I will be fluent in Spanish.
This month in Nicaragua we are staying at a boy’s home working with Light and Salt Ministries. Their mission is to disciple, help, train, and empower Nicaraguans to break their cycle of mental, spiritual, and physical poverty. They do this by offering skills training, spiritual formation classes, discipleship, poverty relief, and education. A few of the things my team has been able to take lead with is teaching English to the boys at the boy’s home (the boys are ages 6-15), sports ministry, elderly ministry, landscaping, and leading the boys in morning devotions.
One thing that I think is really neat is that they teach the boys how to evangelize. Yesterday, we had the opportunity, to go out into a nearby village in the mountains to put into practice what the boys have been learning in the classroom about Jesus. I think it is so important at a young age to know how to share the Gospel. One of the qualifications to be a part of the boy’s program at Light and Salt Ministries is that the they come from families who don’t know the Lord. Their objective is to raise up these boys to know, love, and serve Jesus and then hopefully through that reach their families. From the short time I’ve spent with the boys I can tell they really love Jesus. Seeing them share the gospel, reading scriptures, and praying over people yesterday really blessed my heart. There’s just something about the faith of a child that is so precious.
Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.– Matthew 18:3
My prayer for these boys is that they would be bold in their faith, they wouldn’t be ashamed of the Gospel, and that many would come to know Christ through the work God is doing in each of their hearts. Please join me in praying for these boys and their families. Pray for salvation for the parents, protection, healing both spiritually and physically, provision, and that these boys would continue growing in their walks with God.
If any of you need prayer for anything as well, feel free to reach out. Thanks for reading! Love you all!
