Three days until I officially say my goodbyes to my family, and eight until I leave the country. Together we have raised over $11,000!! I am 63% funded and have under $7,000 left to raise. I am so so blessed with all my supporters and those to come.

Here is my father’s perspective on being a World Racer Parent.

Of all the fruits that are at our disposal, the apple is one of my favorites. Not only is it good for you, but it comes in a variety of appearances, some are red, green and even yellow.  As for our taste buds, apples can appeal to those who are looking for a tart or perhaps a sweet taste. The applications for this amazing fruit seems to be boundless. Beverages, pies, and yes even chips are made from this very unique fruit.

But perhaps I jumped a little ahead of the game, let’s start from the beginning.  As you all know, apples are grown on trees, and after they are picked, their journey begins. We as farmers and consumers have come up with numerous ideas for such a simple fruit.

I think we as humans can relate to the apple in many ways. Let’s, for example, imagine the tree as the parent and the apple as our beloved children. We as parents nurture our child so that some day, they will lead their own life and make something of themselves. Nothing makes a parent prouder than to see their young child grow and make a positive influence on others.

As Brynna’s Dad I’m extremely proud of what she has become in her life and where she is headed, the decisions she has made and the lives she has touched.

So now as a parent, I have a choice, do I do everything I can to hold on to this young woman and convince her to stay home or do I allow God to apply his imagination and give her the guidance to touch other lives the way we she has touched ours.

I think the answer is simple if the tree holds on to the apple to long and doesn’t allow it to be picked, then eventually the apple falls and decomposes. What a waste, an opportunity lost, a chance to do something good in this world and for me to not allow this, would be simply selfish.

I love my daughter too much to hold her back and I ask God that he protects her, shows her a world where love can bring good to those who show it and that she and all the the young women and men return safely. God Bless and I love you,
