Buen Camino!

So I decided to write about my Camino experience through pictures, verses, and the way Scripture rang true in my life throughout these past 10 days.

1 John 5:14 – “Now this is the confidence we have before Him: Whenever we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”

God answered my prayer as I got the opportunity to talk with Csila! God gave me His supernatural strength to keep trekking alongside her for several miles. (I talked more about this in my previous blog…go check it out if you haven’t already! :)) Also, Csila is the one who took this picture.  She was so sweet!

Colossians 3:16 – “Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.”

This is Gina Marie.  She is a part of our squad, and my team had the pleasure of staying with her team on our night in Estella. This was such a beautiful night as the lady we were staying with asked us to play music.  We sang some fun American songs as well as some of our favorite worship songs in English.  After a little while, Gina Marie played and sang a worship song in Spanish and it was absolutely beautiful!

1 Peter 5:10 – “And the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

Isaiah 40:31 – “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

2 Corinthians 4:17-18 – “For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen.”

The first picture is of a road that was long and seemingly endless! Every corner I turned without seeing a town I literally cried! However, as I walked along, I thought about how this long road and walk in general is so much like our relationship with Christ.  There are times that are rough.  After all, God does not promise an easy life on earth with Him. Life is hard and the hardships are seemingly endless at times, but our hope is not of this world.  Our hope is in what is to come…the restoration and beauty we find in Christ as one day we get to spend eternity with Him!

Luke 6:38 – “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over will be poured into your lap.  For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

After that long, endless walk, I was not feeling well! My body was in pain and my stomach was in knots.  I had a headache and I just wanted to sit and do nothing.  The lady sitting next to me, however, saw my ukulele on the outside of my bag and asked me to play.  Now, I am not very good, and I dont like playing for people, but God laid it on my heart to play for her anyways. It brought her so much joy and in return the ability to bless her ultimately blessed and encouraged me.

John 15:12 – “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.”

These pictures are from our night stay in Granon.  The old man “playing” my ukulele is Jesu!  Jesu was like a grandpa figure to all of us!  I was very shy with playing my ukulele tonight but I did it anyways with noticeably little confidence. As Jesu handed me back my ukulele, he whispered in my ear “let somebody love you.”  It was so sweet and gentle that it made my heart melt.  Ultimately, the community we had at that donativo that night was so beautiful!  We were like one giant family at grandpas, and it reminded me of the importance and strength that comes in building relationships with people.

Isaiah 40:8- “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.”

Matthew 6:25a, 28b- “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life..consider the Lillies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin.”

So along with the physical, there has been a lot of emotional and mental hardship along the way. But as I talked and had some quiet time with the Lord, I was and am continually reminded to cling to Him and to the truth of His word, and trust that He will always carry me through.

1 Peter 1:8-9- “Though you have not seen him, you love him; and though you do not see him now, you believe in him, and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of you faith, the salvation of your souls.”

When you see a swing hanging from a tree.. sometimes you just have to stop and have some fun! Joy in the journey! That is my theme for this year and the rest of my life. Times can be hard, but there are always things to be thankful for. His joy can always be found in the little, wonderful things He reveals to us in normal, everyday life.

So all in all, Buen Camino from my team to you! Spain has been a good growing process and I am looking forward to seeing what God has for me as the year progresses…off to our next country!
