Has God been urging you to do something recently? Maybe it’s something as little as praying for a friend He has laid on your heart, or something as big as a calling to take the job offer across the country. When God calls us to do things, it can be a tad terrifying. We tend to enjoy our comfort zones a little too much to always be able to focus on God’s greater picture. The feeling of being unequipped comes creeping in and we lose sight of God’s sovereignty (then typically crawl into our warm and cozy little comfort zone). Personally, this was a little bit of a struggle when I started applying for The World Race. I was totally ready to travel the world for 9 months and only live out of a backpack, until I realized I would actually be traveling the world for 9 months and only living out of a backpack. Once the reality of the trip starting closing in, I started to scare myself out of the whole thing. I was not sure if the whole adventure thing was really what I wanted. However, God came through in showing me His plan. Matthew 28:19-20 says: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always.” These two verses have always been ones I have taken heart to. The term “of all nations” has always set my soul on fire. Just think, Jesus calls us to go out TO ALL NATIONS and make disciples! How exciting! From the time I was a kid to now I have always had wanderlust. So to be able to fulfil my love for travel AND the great commission? YES PLEASE! As I mentioned earlier, crazy things like this can be terrifying, but we must remember that He is with us always. God gave me the passions and desires I have for a reason. That reason was to further His kingdom. Thus I will humbly follow him and let him use me and how He has equipped me for such a time as this. What is the thing that sets your soul ablaze that you can use to further His kingdom? What has He equipped YOU with? Are you being obedient in using what He has equipped you with?
