Yesterday we had one of our most important days on the whole World Race! This month is ATL (ask the Lord), and everyone on my squad asked God last month, “what people group do you want me to focus on?” I felt specifically led to serving Venezuelan Refugees, as did nine other people on my squad. We all came into this month with different goals and thoughts of how to make the most impact, but we all agreed a free medical event would be a pretty incredible thing to pull off. Fast forward two weeks of planning, a lot of meetings, some fundraisings and a lot of prayers we had a hugely successful festival yesterday! Two thousand people showed up!!!
We were able to provide: free medical care, free dental care, information about how to acquire a passport and visa, information about feeding programs in Quito, information about small business start-up classes and SO MUCH MORE! For entertainment we had people singing, dancing and acting! We had a group come in that braided hair, gave free hair cuts, did facepaint and manicures! We were able to provide a free hot meal for everyone at the event! For kids, we had a bounce house, pinatas, and bubbles! And most importantly, we were able to share the gospel with everyone and encourage them that no matter what life looks like God is always on our side!
It was a beautiful day, and I am so glad I was able to have a part in it!
Thanks to everyone who donated specifically for this event, and everyone who donated to my World Race journey. I wouldn’t be here without you!!
Love y’all! See you in 13 days! (WHAT?!)
Ashley
P.S. I have a lot of content coming your way!
Tomorrow I am going to post a blog about “Ashley’s Guide to World Travel” I hope it will give you a fun insight into the “adventure side” of the last year.
After that, over the next 11 days, I am going to post a blog highlighting a specific encounter or situation from the past 11 months, one blog per country.
From there, you’ll have my typical end of month recaps! And a fun vlog documenting Final Debrief, last travel day as a Squad and my trip home!
I hope this helps prepare you to hear more about my last year in whatever way you’d like to!
