Hi crew! This blog has an overview of how our month in the Philippines went-
Our first month of the World Race was overall great. We had good living conditions, even though the weather was HOT, we survived, and we were given the opportunity to make good relationship connections. It was an excellent way to ease into the World Race.
Our first few days started with getting used to the new time zone and familiarizing ourselves with the area. We quickly dove into ministry through many different options the ones I did the most included,
– Assisting at the community feedings. Kid’s International Ministry partners with local churches to help feed the kids in the area.
– helping care for the toddlers through playing with toys, playing outside, having swim time, and assisting with lunchtime
– working at the construction site (we mixed A LOT of concrete to help build a foundation for what will one day be a high school and soccer field!)
We did ministry Tuesday – Saturday
Sunday was our Sabbath day, and I spent those mornings at a church in Manila. Surprisingly enough this church was considered a mega church and had its own English service. It was nice to see the body of Christ gathering in such a significant way in the Philippines.
Monday was our Adventure day, and we definitely did adventure!
We spent one Monday traveling to Taal Volcano, which is a lake, inside a volcano, inside a lake. It was spectacular.
I was also able to spend one of our last days in the Philippines traveling to the city of Puerto Galera on Mindoro island. My team leader Eva and I went to check out the Threads of Hope ministry located there. Threads of Hope is a fundraising platform we both used when raising funds for the World Race. Through selling bracelets made in the Philippines we were able to create sustainable jobs for women and children. Also through that threads of hope has been able to build a school and church. It was a great overnight trip to wrap up our month in the Philippines.
Prayer requests –
– that all members of the squad would stay healthy and safe
– pure intentions and clean hearts
– my squadmates who are not yet fully funded
– pray for the red light district ministry that we will be doing this month
Praise reports –
– we made it to Thailand safe and sound with all our belongings
– we have already started making connections in Thailand
– we have air conditioning while we sleep this month!!!!
I know this email is about a week late, but I’d still love to answer any other questions you have about the past month!
THANK YOU FOR ALL THE LOVE & SUPPORT!
