A walking billboard. I believe this is a term/ analogy we are all familiar with. Companies, like Nike, Adidas, Louis Vuitton, Coach etc. use their customers as free advertisement. When a customer buys and wears clothes from one of these stores, there is always some type of marking, or symbol represented on the clothes so everyone knows what they are wearing. It is very evident someone likes Nike when they show up to the gym with a little check mark on every article of clothing, from the shoes, to the top. This person is known as a walking billboard.

We are walking billboards during every part of our lives, but what are we representing, and are we representing it well?

As Christians, if you are one, we have been marked with the blood of Christ. We become new creations. We are also now temples for the Holy Spirit. We are the vessels in which are supposed to be filled to do God’s work. We are made in his image, so how are we making Christ look?

We have a huge responsibility to represent Christ in a way he deserves- in a way that accurately shows him. How do we do this? Well we have to get to know him and what he’s like. We should strive everyday to be more like him. Our actions should only be ones he would take, our words should only be ones he would say, our thoughts should only be ones he would think, our character should only be like his. If we don’t spend time in his word, the Bible, how will we know what he’s like? How will we know his character? How will we know the words he would say or the things he would do? We have to do our part to get to know him so we can be more like him.

This is a challenge for you today. As you wear his name, as you represent his family, how are you going to accurately advertise who he is? Don’t lead others astray by poor advertising. Let people see who he really is through you.

Don’t wear his name if you don’t plan to look like he does.

This is also the goal of my T-shirt fundraiser. I want others to know his name. I want others to see the work he’s doing. This t-shirt is something I plan to wear to hopefully spark a conversation about God and his love and his work that I will be doing. And if we are being completely transparent with each other, I want you to be a walking billboard for not only Christ, but for this mission he is sending me on, so that together we can raise awareness for my trip and his work.

The symbols on the t-shirt each have their own specific meaning for why they were chosen and where they are placed:

The Roman numerals on the front mean “11 in 11” for 11 countries in 11 months.
The Roman numerals on the back stand for the dates I’ll be gone: October 2018- September 2019.
The cross in the center of both sets of Roman numerals is the reminder that Christ will be in the center of it all the whole time. In every place. In every moment. Always with me. Always working.
The map is for our world I’ll be traveling spreading the gospel while being the Lord’s hand and feet. While walking in obedience I’ll be able to bring heaven to earth. The border around the map has an opening where the cross is going through the center with the words that say “open heaven” this is to symbolize God opening the heavens to let the glory of his presence reign on earth as we do his work.

If you are interested in partnering with me, and you are ready to take on the role of being his walking billboards, let me know!
