Since the start of the race, my squad has become OBSESSED with personality tests and enneagrams and all the sort. 9/10 of my conversations are now about my “type”. Now, I understand that there are some skeptics to Myer Briggs and Enneagrams and any test that “classifies” you, but hear me out: for me personally, it is DEAD on.
I originally took the enneagram having no idea what it was… only to find out I was a “2w1” – whatever that meant. After finding out my “type”, I began doing some research. I read about a two’s strengths and how they love people. I read how two’s struggle and why they do things. I read how they can thrive and the why when they don’t. All of this information – the strengths, the weaknesses, the mindsets, the struggles – was me. It blows my mind how accurate it truly was, yet I didn’t let it just rest there and “define” me. I tested it. I asked God what He thought of it. I asked Him how He defines me and He revealed some pretty incredible things about me.
So beginning this week, I am doing a series of the transforming lessons/words the Lord is showing me through these tests. Each week, I will have a new blog exploring different qualities of a two and how they apply to me in this season and beyond.
** One thing to note: though personality tests can describe you, they do not define you. I highly encourage everyone to explore themselves via these tests, but always go back to who your true identity is in Christ and how He made you. Go back to the Lord about anything these tests say about you to validate, explain, or rebuke. After all, these tests were made by PEOPLE, therefore they are bound to be flawed to some degree.
