Month 3 Malaysia

Cities: Georgetown Penang, Langkawi, Ipoh, Cameron Highlands, Kuala Lumpur

Dates: December 2-30th
Singapore: December 23-27

Team: Tercules and Freedom Runners

Host: none

Ministry: Ask The Lord. In Malaysia it’s illegal to talk to Malay Muslims about Christianity unless they bring it up. So we mostly talked to travelers, Indians, Chinese, and pretty much all of our grab drivers if they spoke decent enough English. It’s been really fun to be more intentional with people I otherwise previously wouldn’t have engaged in conversation with.

Living Conditions: staying in hostels with my teammates, squad mates, and random traveling strangers. Sometimes the hostels had AC and hot showers. Sometimes there was just fans and cold showers. I’ve learned to be really thankful for sleep and just to not sweat all the time lol.

Songs of the month: You’re the Only One by Chris Renzema and Moriah Hazeltine, Abide and Waters Rise by Kingdom Culture Worship

Scripture I read through: a daily Proverb and Psalm, Hebrews-Revelation. I was on a reading plan to read thru the Bible in a year, and I finished in Singapore! 🙂

Highlights: seeing wild monkeys! traveling and seeing different parts of Malaysia, more freedom in ministry, the food, becoming more bold in engaging in spiritual conversations and asking questions, being boujee in Singapore lol

Lowlights: lack of personal space, less working out this month, less team time hurt our overall team dynamic

Lessons learned: God knows the best way to live life since He made life. Continual surrender to God is sweet.

Things God has told me: ‘I want you to be really adaptable to change.’ ‘Let’s dream together.’ ‘Be present. Don’t miss now.’

Funny WR specific quotes: ‘Can I wear the cat shirt with that skirt?’

Things I miss: my closet, my cat RueRue, cycling

Best purchase for WR: bose noise canceling earbuds

Also, check out my teammate, Stella’s, video recap of the race so far! 🙂

Next to Lesotho Africa! And I will have very limited access to wifi and be in the mountains. Excited for what’s to come.

Much love and Happy New Years!!
