Hello my friends.
Something that the Lord has been walking me through pretty much since the beginning of the race has been my identity as His bride and who He is as the Bridegroom. It’s been so sweet and so freeing to understand and walk in that, so while I’m not ready to process and share everything, I want to share a little piece of what that’s looked like for me with you guys.
This is my interpretation of a passage of scripture that the Lord has laid on my heart and highlighted to me and brought me back to over and over and over again since month one. It’s been really close to my heart for a long time and really paints the picture of what the Lord has been walking me through. I encourage you to also read the original scripture though and even the message version because both are really beautiful and this is just my interpretation of what it means to me so make sure to go back & read the real scripture 🙂
Hosea 2:14-16, 18-20
“My sweet bride, I will romance you.
Bouquets of wildflowers, notes of adoration, all the best coffee dates, whatever it takes.
Then I will sweep you away to a quiet place, off in the mountains, somewhere where no one will find us, and there I will speak words of tender love and romance to you, my beloved bride.
There I will give you everything you ever hoped for, a farmhouse in the woods, a beautiful place to call our home. I will replace what gave you trouble and anxiety with what gives you hope and joy.
In that day you will love me like you did when you were young, before heartbreak and fear set in, wildly and recklessly and blindly in love without fear.
In that day you will call me “my beloved Husband” and I will take care of everything that scares you, get rid of everything that could hurt you or disturb our life together, all for you so that you can feel safe here.
And I will bring you to me, united in sweet marriage forever. We will build our life together on the foundation of all the best things— I will love you right and true, with never ending, never failing love and grace, and you will know me as your good and faithful Husband.”
Thank you Papa that you are the best husband and father and lord and all the things all in one. Thank you that you created our hearts with a deep seated desire to to love and be loved by you and you alone. Thank you that you are the only one that can truly fulfill that desire and that you do it so so well. Thank you that you love and pursue each of us individually the way a husband pursues his wife.
I pray that as we read your word and seek you out that you would become so so real to us in a way that we’ve never felt or understood before and that you would bring each of us face to face with you in deeper intimacy as both our father and our bridegroom.
Thank you for this gift of a life spent being known and pursued and loved by you as we seek to know and pursue and love you in the same way. Thank you that even if we so often trade it in for a life of working for the next thing, you created us for a life of love and beauty and abundance and you want so badly to give that to us if we will just open our hands and let you pour it out.
All my love,
Alley
