Hello friends! I just want to check in and let you all know that I’ve made it to the beautiful country of Guatemala!!!
My whole squad is staying at the Adventures In Missions base near the city of Antigua for the entire 3 months. What that means is that each team has a room with bunk beds and a bathroom, we have hot showers, we can drink out of the faucet, we have coffee at breakfast every morning, and we have two amazing women (Teresa and Sondra) who cook the BEST meals for us. Can I get an amen ????
We also have some great staff members here who have already started sharing their wisdom and pouring into us. Keep them in your prayers, they are doing some awesome work here!!
So far, we have been trained on how to teach English to different cultures, we’ve had orientation sessions to get us acclimated to the culture, we’ve gotten to experience the Guatemalan Independence Day festivities, and we’ve gotten to visit a few local towns. Here are some of the things I am loving about this country so far:
- Mountains. Oh my soul. I love them so much.
- It’s so beautiful! The sights and sounds of the cities/villages are so different than anything I’ve experienced and I love it so much.
- Guatemalans are the nicest people on this planet.
- Everything is colorful, its awesome.
Some updates:
- I have no idea what my team’s ministry assignment is yet, but we will find out on Monday so please be praying for those assignments and that we will all be placed where we can be the most effective.
- I don’t have WiFi at the base and probably won’t be able to get to it until the weekends when I can go into town so if you reach out to me and I don’t reply, please know that I appreciate it and will get to it when I can get WiFi 🙂
- Some of my teammates (Hailey, Bethany, Elli, and Maleah) are not yet fully funded and will have to have all of their funds by January so if you have a heart for missions and want to support them please do! The links to their blogs should be on the left side of this page.
We are all so excited to get started with ministry and see what the Lord has planned for us here. We are all learning and growing in our faith already and just spending a lot of intentional time seeking what the Lord is speaking over us and what He’s wanting to teach us in this season so please be in prayer for us as we seek those things out! I will be able to update you all more once we get more settled in and start ministry, I am so excited to let y’all in to walk this journey with me! For now, here are some things (other than the ones already mentioned) that y’all can be praying:
- During this week’s team time, our whole team set goals for what kind of women we want to be at the end of this 9 months so please be praying for us as we chase after those things! Here are the ones that I set for myself: I want to be a woman who has a deep, intimate relationship with the Lord; I want to be a woman who is a humble servant and always seeks to honor others; and I want to be a woman who walks in confidence, freedom, and truth. Pray that I’ll stick to these goals and that they will become a reality in my life and feel free to check in and hold me accountable to those things if you feel lead to do so 🙂
- The Holy Spirit has also been revealing a lot of things to me about my walk with Him and intimacy with Him so be praying over that! I’ll let y’all in on what’s going on with that once I figure it out some more, but for now just pray that I’ll hear whatever it is that God wants me to hear and that I’ll be obedient to that. John 17:3 is the verse that I’ve been praying over and meditating on if you want to join me in praying that over my life 🙂
- I am the most excited to be poured into and discipled by the staff here at the AIM base so please pray for so much growth!!!
- Pray for Christ-like community for each of the teams and our squad as we live and work together. “For by this they will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” John 13:35
* Even though we don’t know what capacity we’ll be serving in yet, you can always be praying for revival and heart change in Guatemala. 🙂
