Hello friends! I have not been able to write much as we are super busy between getting ready for parents weekend ( I get to hug my mom and dad in a few days!!!) and wrapping up my time here in beautiful Guatemala (cue all the tears). I have talked a little about what my week days of ministry look like in the past but I wanted to give some insight into what my weekends look like too!
Today was a real good day. One of those days that isn’t anything special but you will look back on fondly. It started out with a cold misty day, because those are my favorite kind of days. Jacee and I got up and were on a bus to Antigua before 7am. We bought orange juice from a super nice man named Carlos who we got to chat with a bit. We took our bagels and juice and made our way up to the cross overlooking Antigua. Jacee’s dad is a pastor so we opted to listen to one of his sermons while watching the city wake up. Something he said really convicted me today. He spoke on Acts 10. In this passage Peter has a vision of a bunch of unclean animals falling to which he responds “Lord I will never eat of that uncleanliness!”. The Lord responded saying something along the lines of how dare you call something I made unclean. Jacee’s dad then brought up such a good point. How many things do we call unclean that God made? How many people do we look at as lesser or not worthy because they are “unclean”. How often do I call myself unclean because of something I have done or how I perceive myself? When I bash myself with “I am unclean or unworthy” the Lord is shouting at me how DARE I call something he made and loves unclean! That really convicted me.
From there I met with my ministry team at Shoreline Church. It is an amazing church that is based out of Texas, but they have locations in Guatemala too. We all walked to lunch and I got to tell them how my sisters wanted to bless them with lunch (thank you Addy and Soph!). The reason for this is they work 6 days a week to tutor, feed, and meet the needs of the kids in San Lorenzo. They do this with all the joy in the world and no salary at all. So when I told them about lunch I got many, many thank yous to my sisters and some tears. These people are truly the best.
Finally, we ended the evening by preparing the worship and sermon my team is giving to the squad tomorrow. We will be speaking on the truths of who God is. Prayers would be appreciated as public speaking is not my favorite but I know Jesus wants these people to hear these things!
So that was just a quick update to say hello and give you a peek into what my weekends now look like on the mission field! I also found out where I will be in Cambodia for those of you who are curious. I will be staying for 3 months in Battumbong, Cambodia. On March 5th I depart from Guatemala city to Mexico City, then to LA, then to China, and finally Cambodia!
