Hello!! I am sorry it has been so long. We have been pretty busy between the holiday season and debrief (a few days off to refresh since I have officially finished half of this crazy adventure!!). As I planned this week to post a photo blog, that the wifi did not permit yet again (so frustrating I want to show you guys around my ministry!!), this blog will be quick and sweet.
This morning I went to Shoreline church, which consists of a bunch of really amazing Americans living in Guatemala. It felt so much like home!! It made me realize as I was sitting there feeling so comfortable and familiar, this must be a small glimpse of what heaven feels like! When we get there we will never have been before, but it will feel so good and familiar like home. Something the pastor said today that hit home was “Jesus didn’t die on a cross to give you small favors if you are his kids. He died to give you freedom!!”. That really hit home for me. I allow things to have power over me by perceived chains when I have the full ability through Christ to walk in complete freedom of the chains.
Ministry this last few weeks has consisted of me and my friend painting multiple classrooms to get ready for the school year that starts this week. I also got to teach a teacher how to use Powerpoint and MicrosoftWord in English and Spanish. No easy task, but it was so fun! We finished up building 17 bunkbeds for a mission team that is arriving soon to help construct a new english school for the local kids. Finally, this Friday we helped facilitate a team of hairdressers from the States that came and did nails, haircuts, and styling to over 40 women!! It was so amazing to watch and I had a blast painting a bunch of little girls nails:) This was so powerful to do in the San Lorenzo community since the culture preaches to women they are only here on earth to birth and raise babies. But through showing these women how beautiful they are and loving them for just being women, we can show these women their value. That they are so LOVED and WORTHY and NEEDED apart from being mothers. It was so fun seeing all their smiles as we hung out. Later that day we helped run a feeding program where lunch was served to over 300 kids ages 3-12 and some of their parents. It was so fun as I sat with a group of 4 year olds who told me how many siblings they have and their favorite colors (about all my spanish skills will facilitate in terms of conversations:). After we had a fun painting game that was total craziness with all those kids!! So worth it.
Hope you all had a wonderful week and pray my photos will upload eventually!!
