I was sobbing in my car on the way home one night a few short months ago. I was stressed and confused and I wondered how I would ever come up with the money I would need to raise for the Race. In addition to the (somewhat large) amount of money I needed for other things I’d have to pay off this summer, my $15,800 goal seemed beyond impossible. I distinctly remember trying to convince myself that anything is possible with Jesus. Saying those words out loud. I tried and tried and TRIED to believe that my Lord could and would provide the means I needed. But I just couldn’t. I completely doubted. The mountain in front of me seemed way too large, even for Jesus. It simply wasn’t realistic.
And this is my testimony: Jesus moves mountains. No matter the size.
Elevation worship has a song with some lyrics that go like
“I’ve seen you move, You move the mountains
And I believe, I’ll see You do it again
You made a way, Where there was no way
And I believe, I’ll see you do it again”
I can sing these lyrics with full confidence that this is true. Because here I am, 17 days away from leaving the country, and God has provided every penny of that $15,800.
Give thanks to the Lord for He is good, His love endures forever. -Psalm 136
I want to give a HUMONGOUS THANK YOU to each and every person who donated to my World Race fund, from one dollar to thousands. THANK YOU to those who have prayed, or are still praying for me and my team. THANK YOU to those who put their time and energy into helping me conduct fundraisers. THANK YOU for letting the Lord use you through your giving. THANK YOU for believing in me and helping me fulfill the call that the Lord has placed on my life. You are already a part of this journey and I will surely remember you while I’m on the field. You may not realize it, but you will be a part of the people I touch and the people who see/hear about Jesus through me.
Another thing to think about through all of this is something the Lord spoke to me this morning. The fact is, that God would still be good even if he hadn’t provided the money I needed. Even if He had provided nothing and I wasn’t able to do the Race, He’d still be a good father. He is good no matter my circumstance, no matter where I am in life, through the valleys and all. Amen, that’s the truth! And since He chose to provide this for me, I am even more thankful and reassured that this is where he wants me.
So thank you Jesus. Thank you friends and family. Thank you strangers.
I want to leave some encouragement here. If you’re in a place in your life where you’re just stumped, or maybe you don’t see God providing what you think you need. If you feel weak or lost, hopeless or discouraged, or maybe you can’t even put into words how you feel- remember this truth:
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. (Mt. 6:33)
And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (Phil. 4:19)
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! (Eph. 3:20)
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in your weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. (2 Cor. 12:9)
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jer. 29:11)
