To preface this, I am 50% funded and am at $9,020, praise God. I look forward to the day in which I am fully funded and I am excited to see what God does on the race through me. I want to say thank you to everyone who has partnered with me thus far by reading my blog posts, meeting up with me to hear more, and giving to me. This has been a great process to see how God has moved and I hope you continue to follow me and my squad as we go around the world in 37 days.

Important to the story is before road tripping to the south I had never seen fireflies in my life, they aren’t in the west.

One night at training camp my squad and I had a campfire and during that campout there was a point in time where I kind of removed myself and one of my squad mates followed me and asked me what was going on, in that moment I just wanted to sit and take it all in for a moment. So we sat together and took in the moment and saw so many fireflies. I didn’t think much about them until getting back to Colorado and I can’t stop thinking about what beautiful creatures they are. I am at a loss for words as to how God decided to give us such an evident reminder that even the bugs we so often jump and scream at declare who he is.

Fireflies remind me of the light Jesus is and how God uses all creation to declare his victory. And just like fireflies in a jar when we are in community we can light up the whole place we are in. The song So Will I, I think captures it best when it says:

And as you speak

A hundred Billion creatures

catch your breath

I love this because it reminds me of everything was created to praise the Lord, and so will I. So I will praise God for the money that has come in to this point. My prayer is that the lesson taught to me by the fireflies that night would help you understand that we are just like them with our light through the Jesus being hung on the cross but unlike them we can share our light to others around us. Even the bugs declare Gods glory.

May you rest in his mercy and grace,

Zack
