India has been a month filled with culture. From the food, curry chicken, chapati (also known as roti), curry potatoes, dal baht (a very common dish made in India and Nepal, consisting of steamed rice and a cooked lentil soup). There is also so much culture embedded into the manner in which we eat (no utensils, right hand only) and down to the attire we wear. Since our arrival, we have tried our best to submerge ourselves into the culture of India.
Ministry was initially slated for Tuesdays through Saturday but it has mostly been Tuesdays through Sundays (with an off day on Monday). Needless to say, the ministry this month has been rewarding as we share testimonies and preach at night. Every night, with the exception of Monday, we have shared to encourage the believers here in India.
In India, out of respect for our town’s specific culture, we have been wearing their traditional dress. Sarees are quite common (pictured, to the left, below) as well as Kurtas (pictured below to the right) which are designed for both men and woman.)
The prints and colors of the various Sarees and Kurtas are absolutely stunning. It was a pleasure shopping around for our Kurtas and I thought it would be nice to give you a taste of our newfound Indian fashion.
As ministry starts anywhere from 4 pm to 9 pm, we have lots of time during the day to do a variety of things. The below video was taken during one of our team times.
Hope you enjoy it! We sure did!
P.S If you’re wondering where our team mates Alexis and Rebecca are…Alexis was our camera woman and Rebecca was not able to join us but she was there with us in spirit : )
