This is my first blog post!!! AHHHHH. I have been thinking about the day I could post my first blog since I got accepted to go on the world race and honestly i’m still not sure how this is going to be. I tried to plan it out and make a whole scheduled list of what I was going to post when and then at one point I was like nahhhhh i”m just going to let God take the lead on this one soooo lets see how this goes.

Just now as I typed that last paragraph I decided that I am going to make this blog post about how I came to apply for the world race. (I am very impulsive if you couldn’t guess that)

Flashback to July, the day after my birthday, the day I accepted Jesus back into my life after rejecting him for so long. I was on a mission trip in Costa Rica and I had shared my testimony the night before with all 75 of the amazing people on that trip with me… that was a day I will never forget. Getting to play and love on the kids in the school then hanging out with my friends in a beautiful country and then to feeling love like I have never felt before after I shared my story, gosh what a day. Anywaysssss the day after that, at night when one of the other small groups was leading. My friend Zach shared his story with everyone but the way he started out was by saying something about how I inspired him to open up…. that lead to Jesus knocking down the wall I had put up against him. That whole trip was by far the best thing I have done yet and the fact that me, a normal, just your average gal could inspire people like that just gave me proof that God was working in my life. That experience and the power of God sparked my love for mission trips.

Fast froward to September, I was on a church retreat in Tennessee and my small group was talking about their plans for college and I just sat there and didn’t say anything. I had been thinking about it for a while and I really wanted to do something else, something for God, something worth the life I have been given. I had this feeling and I still do that there is so much more in this world that God wants me to experience and see. I know that he wants me to get out of my comfort zone and take a risk because what is life without a little bit of risk and excitement, especially when your doing something like a mission trip. I was talking to my small group leader, Erin and my best friend Carolyn and I was telling them about this thought I had been having and they said that if anyone was going to do something like this then it would be me.

After that weekend I realized I was following someone on Instagram that was going on the world race so I went on her blog and found my way to the world race website. From there I waited to apply, submitted my application, had the interview and then got the call that I was going. It all happened so fast and the funny part is that I was never worried that I wouldn’t get accepted; I felt like God was just whispering to me saying do not worry. I was overjoyed by Gods plan for my life. (side note I got the call that I was going when I was petting a goats at an apple orchard… it was actually the best things ever). I knew that as soon as I saw the video on the world race website that this is what God was calling me to do so I followed him and here I am, going on a life changing trip and I have never been so grateful.
