Up until this point, any time some one asks about my Race I say something to the extent of “Next year I will be travelling to eleven different countries and will be gone for almost a full year.” However, now when people ask me I say, “This year…” How crazy is that? I leave in less than eight months, y’all. Less than eight months! Needless to say, this has lit a fire within me to continue to prepare myself physically, mentally and spiritually.

So the first week of this month I met some new friends. And how cute are they?

Hannah and Sandy will be going on the same route in August. We’ll be at training camp together and travelling to each country together. We will also spend debriefs together.

I can’t explain what peace it brings to meet these girls face-to-face. Now I know when I arrive at training camp I will get to see two familiar faces, at least. We spent the day eating lunch, shopping and watching The Greatest Showman. Also, we bought matching shirts to take on the race. Can you say goals?

Another way I prepared for the Race this month was I bought my big pack.

This makes the Race seem even that much more real. I’m going to be living out of this pack for eleven months and that is kind of terrifying to consider!

Also, I have been researching each country we will go to- their average temperatures, typical food, holidays and notable destinations; being more conscious about my diet and lifestyle; and reading some of the materials the Race recommends.

Finally, this last week I met Emily for lunch. Emily just returned from her Race right before Christmas and she had so much knowledge to offer. She gave me packing tips, talked about community and eased my mind about some things of which I was worried.

All in all, the Lord continues to be faithful in this process of preparing me for this next step.

Also, I am 21% funded! That is so, so great and I am so thankful to each and every one of you who has donated so far. Please consider praying for me as I get closer to this trip and donating to my Race.
