Wow, never thought I’d say that! Haha (don’t worry mom, I obviously didn’t go to an actual club)
This morning me and some others on my squad went to Zoe Church and wow what a taste of home! Attending church overseas on the race has been interesting. I’ll say for me it’s been kind of hard to receive at church in other countries because the message is in another language. Sometimes we have translators but even then I’m focusing too much on trying to hear the translator. So I’ve just missed my home church.
But at Zoe church- we walked in, heard Hillsong playing in English in the background. Then worship- although it was in Bulgarian, they had English subtitles and it was songs I knew so I was able to sing along. Besides, there’s something so special about singing with other languages that I love. Then the message was in English because the lady preaching was from Seattle! And holy cow it was such an amazing, refreshing & encouraging message!
Zoe in Greek stands for “life”.
We heard of this church that was underground below a park. We found out- this church rents out a night club to have church!
How awesome is that though?! I love it! Talk about bringing Jesus anywhere & everywhere! Jesus didn’t come for the “perfect” people who had it all together! Do you know the lives Jesus’ disciples lived before they encountered Jesus? How can we ever treat others as if they aren’t deserving of God’s love, mercy & grace that he displayed on the cross for everyone & anyone.
When I asked the pastor’s wife why here- she mentioned how it breaks down walls. A lot of people won’t step into a church but when you say “oh it’s at a club” , they are more likely to give it a chance & check it out. Curiosity gets the best of people. And I just love that because so many people have the wrong idea of who Jesus is and it’s kept them from knowing a ZOE LIFE. And ya know, who said you can’t have church at a place like that? And she did mention some people don’t like that it’s there and that’s totally fine. But it’s so awesome to see the heart of this church & the audience they are trying to reach. Jesus modeled a life defied cultural and church norms- so why can’t we?
Lauren Daigle said it perfectly recently:
“it is not up to me to choose who I am supposed to show love to. I think the second we start drawing lines around which people are able to be approached and which aren’t, we’ve already completely missed the heart of God. I don’t have all the answers in life, but one thing I know is that I can’t choose who I’m sup posed to be kind to and who I’m not, because that’s the mission right? Be who Christ was to everyone as well.”
I’m just so thankful for this morning. I needed it! I’m thankful Jesus knows what we need- even minor little details that we think He might not even pay attention to- but then I’m surprised when He does something to show he cares about what I care about.
Well, that’s it for now!
Much love, T!
