This month we are in Myanmar! My team is up in Mandalay. We live in a hostel here and we teach English twice a day! We are partnered with a church which we got to attend on Sunday right after getting here. This church is about 45 minutes away from where we stay in a cute little village area. About 20-30 people attend and it’s super uplifting and cool to see in the middle of a country where that is not the norm. We teach English at that church every morning. Then at night we go to our hosts house to teach English to college students and some adults and a few children.
We have learned very quickly that we are almost the only white people in this town and when people see us they love to say hello and just stare. When we go out to a new place to eat 2-6 waiters come up to take our order and then stand and watch us as we talk, eat, talk and yeah you get the point. We have realized quickly that how we perceive ourselves is a big thing here. But also it shouldn’t just be something we are aware of here but also just wherever we are in life. We shouldn’t go out trying to impress others but we should go out and try to glorify the one person that made us especially when the people we are around are not believers and are still looking for something to put there trust in. I know we fail a lot but if we go out everyday trying to glorify God we will never be ashamed or embarrassed or even scared of what is to come because the battle is over and we are already loved by the one who will love us the most. So this month I think will be a reflection of how I want my life to look like for God. How I want to be seen not through the eyes of the people around me but how I am seen by Him and how He still needs me to change to look more like Him.
Thanks for reading and for the continuous prayers!
God Bless,
Sydney(:
P.S if you’re near a braums and you like milkshakes you should get a chocolate one and drink it for me I genuinely miss them:/
