Hi!! My name is Sydney. I am from a small town in Kansas called Towanda. I just recently turned 19. I live out in the country with my parents and my two brothers, I’m the lucky middle child. I have always loved hanging out with friends and doing fun random activities. I enjoy being with my family and my little cousins, they are a big part of my life.
Ever since I was little I always loved being around kids and always wanted to travel and do mission work with it. I never thought that was a possible dream until this summer at work crew for young life in Georgia. There I met some girls that told me all about it and said it would be amazing and that I should look into it. So I started praying about it while I was there and when I got home I looked into it. I did not think it was possible to do in any way with the cost and time period it was asking for but it would not leave my heart. I kept praying on it and fighting the Lords pull to do it. I finally broke down one day and knew that, that was it. He had won. I was going to apply for this thing and see what happened. Of course I still did not do it right away and kept leaning on the “I can’t”, well Jesus does not like being put on hold and after talking to my young life leader and best friends they helped me know it was indeed the holy spirit speaking to me. WOW. So a week after that I got the acceptance call and became overwhelmingly happy. I then had a peace about all of it and knew that God would provide the fund and he would make it possible.
A couple things that were holding me back is leaving my family behind and school. After lots of prayer and reading, He also made it clear that he will provide for all that as well and look after my family for me. I also found out that I would have to do this….write a blog. I am not a writer nor do I like sharing my thoughts and feelings for everyone. So beware that I will not be perfect in these and my grammar is not the best(I get that from my dad). I am contradicting that with that I really am excited to share this adventure with you guys and let you see how the Lord will be working in me throughout this mission.
I thank you so much to whoever takes the time to read this and if I could ask one thing is that you could pray for me and my journey, for my family and there peacefulness over this and for my teammates who I have yet to meet. Thank you. God bless! (:
