i’ve been in ecuador for almost 2 months now and haven’t really updated on it, so i’m here to do so!
month 1:
when we landed, we were bussed to a place in the mountains, away from the city (thank you, jesus) called Dunamis. Dunamis is a place that will forever be in my heart. this is a property that will be home for girls rescued from sex trafficking soon. there, they will be provided beds, running water, cribs and baby stuff if needed, warm clothing (it’s super cold up there), and safety from the pimps. around the perimeter of the property is about a 10-12 foot wall preventing any danger for the women from the outside.
what R squad was privileged to do there was help finish the wall by making the columns. it was a lot of hard work, but being able to see the progress that our hands were making for the Kingdom and for these girls made it so, so worth it.
months 2 & 3:
this last month and this next month, i have been/will be working at a place that provides before and after school care for kids who are underprivileged and whose parents are working during those hours. this place is called COVI. my team and i are privileged with serving Tamarita, the founder of COVI, by gardening, cleaning out closets, cleaning the bathrooms and other areas, helping the kids with homework if we can (it’s super hard if you don’t speak the language), and playing with the younger kids.
anyways, that’s my update! i’m excited to finish off this journey in such a beautiful country.
-sydddddd :)))))
