This week for blogging, our team decided to write about each other. This is us, from another point of view.
The smile that is constantly on Shay’s face radiates throughout the room. She’s someone who’s biggest aspirations in life are not for herself, but for the Kingdom. These two things only scratch the surface of the beautiful woman Shayla Hamilton is, and who she is becoming while on the race.
In Costa Rica, I saw Shay grow each and every day we went to ministry. She constantly let other people pick what classroom they wanted. When she went to her classroom for the day, everyone knew that she would make a difference no matter where she was. Each day after ministry Shay would burst with enthusiasm and love for them, one that showed me how much the Lords love captured her heart. Her love for those kids screamed the Gospel in so many ways. She loves like Jesus loves and it’s so beautiful to see how the Gospel can be spread through love alone.
In South Africa Shay wakes up to a new day before her and is the first person who exclaims she is so excited to go to ministry no matter what it is. When we are at manual labor, she works unceasingly to make sure the task she has been given is done to the best of her abilities. If we are with the kids, she loves them to the point of her missing them when she doesn’t see them for one single day. The love she has for the Father pours into her and she never hesitates to pour that love out to others.
Shay is one of my best friends on this race and I’m so proud to get to call her that. Thank you to those who donated to Shay who are reading this. You made it possible for her to grow closer to Christ and spread the Gospel to all the nations. There are no words to explain the change Shay is making to the Kingdom, but I hope this gives you some insight on who your friend, daughter, or sister is.
