Hello all my loved ones,
My first week in Australia is quickly coming to an end.

Australia has felt like a complete dream. Right now our entire squad is staying in a church, which means I have 40 + roommates. We cook for each other, do worship nights, and have a lot of fun together. Our team is partnered with YWAM in Byron Bay. We have come alongside YWAM in their ministry and have been serving the people in this community. Ministry looks pretty different here. We have been doing beach volleyball ministry, community barbecues, pancakes and chai, and street ministry. The focus of our ministry in this area is very relational.

Byron Bay reminds me a lot of Asheville. The only thing that is different is replacing the mountains for the beach. The community here gives off a very hippy atmosphere and the people are very open and spiritual. This allows space for great conversations. This is all I have for my first week update!
Some fun facts about Australia:
1. Byron Bay is very close to the most easterly point of the Australian mainland
2. Australia has no ozone layer so it is very easy to get sunburnt (I quickly learned to wear sunscreen)
3. There are three times as many sheep than people living in Australia
4. The Australian Emu is a large, flightless bird that can run 28 mph
5. The steering wheel is on the other side of the vehicle, and you drive on the opposite side of the road. (Very weird)
6. Its actually summer here and its been close to 90 degrees every day
7. We are 16 hours ahead of NC time. So we are usually a day ahead of you guys!
8. The record jump recorded by a kangaroo is 30ft in a single jump (pretty impressive)
