It has officially been one week of ministry here in Ecuador. I have learned so much in just this short time through the Lord and the community I am surrounded by. The Holy Spirit is so evident in every day life here, through the sweet children on the bus, through the mountains, and through the work being done at Dunamis.
I have been learning about my entitlement, about what it means to be entitled, how I AM entitled. I am entitled to my opinions, good & accessible WiFi, food, cheap coffee, a full wardrobe to choose from.. the list goes on and on.
Through this process of learning about my entitlement and what I find comfort in, I have found something even more comfortable. I have been discovering that there are no risks when following Jesus, when following joy, faith, and goodness. When you follow Jesus you can only win. There is no “risking it all” because Jesus IS ALL. No comfortable bed or WiFi can even begin to compare to the love of God and the bittersweet community that follows. So, I am continually learning to lay down my entitlement and comforts so that I may fully experience what God has for this new season of my life.
“Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in their wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so they may take hold of the life that is truly life.” 1 Timothy 6:17
