As of early October 2017 I sold my car. My only means of transportation – gone. So for roughly 3 1/2 months I have been hitchhiking, carpooling, and basically bumming rides from everyone with a license in the state of Mississippi. I always get the question, “why in the world did you sell your car?”. Well honestly after going from two jobs to one I couldn’t afford it. Also during the World Race I will be gone for 11 months so with no where to keep the car and no one to pay for it while I’m gone it had to be done eventually. Nonetheless I was terrified of getting rid of it. I mean how would I get to work. How would I do anything? But after some serious praying and seeking counsel from several mentors I knew everything would be ok. So once you have no car, where in the world do you go? What do you do?
Since deciding to live without a car I have grown and learned so much. I have began trusting people and learned that asking for help and accepting help wasn’t the end of the world. It actually forced me to be more grateful and loving towards people. It has taken me places I never would have gone. I’ve met people and had so many meaningful conversations with people about Jesus and life that would have never taken place before. While yes I have been stranded in random places in 7°F weather. And I have had to pass up events because of this but overall it’s been great. God has definitely used this difficult time to allow me to glorify him in ways unimaginable.
So to everyone who has given me a ride previously or who will eventually end up giving me a ride, I thank you with every ounce of my heart. Without your help, I would not be able to continue on this great journey of fundraising and hopefully spreading the gospel throughout 11 countries.
