Hi! I’m Rachel.

I am a 21 year old college student from Parkersburg, West Virginia. Currently, I am a senior at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, studying elementary education. I will be graduating next May. The Lord has blessed me with a wonderful church family at home in 7th Street United Methodist Church and in Redemption Church in Huntington.

The first thing you have to know about me is how close I am with my family. This isn’t just with my immediate family, but my extended family as well. We are the family that rents a beach house for 15 people and all have to sit at the dinner table together when we go out to eat. While it is hectic at times, I wouldn’t change it for the world. I am so thankful that we all are able to see each other so often.

As far as my immediate family goes, I have a younger sister who is a freshman at another university, and a brother who is in fourth grade. I have wonderful parents that support and love me in everything I do. They are simply the best. I also have the most beautiful puppy in the world named Leia.

If I had to describe myself in one word, it would be passionate. If you know me, you know that I am very passionate about a lot of things, whether they are big or small. For example, I am OBSESSED with all things Star Wars, Nick Jonas, and all of my favorite bands. Some of my favorite artists include: Young the Giant, Walk the Moon, Twenty One Pilots, Mumford and Sons, and Panic! At the Disco. (The Jonas Brothers!!!) I love music. I love Christmas. I love the beach. I love running. I love going to concerts. I love food. I love my friends. I love my church. I love my family. I love people. I love to laugh. I could go on and on.

My constant prayer is that the passion that I have for these things is replicated in how I serve the Lord. I strive to love Him above everything else in my life. I am constantly checking my heart, and looking for opportunities to further His kingdom within these other “silly” passions. I know the Lord gave me this passionate heart to love His people well.

I have experienced a range of emotions since committing to the World Race. While there is definitely fear and anxiety, there is also so much excitement and hope that fills my heart. I have such a peace that the Lord is doing wonderful things in my life, and I am excited to see what is in store for me. I am going to be challenged and Lord willing, I will become more like Jesus.

As per usual, I feel like I have no idea what I’m truly getting myself into. But I am trusting in the Lord’s plan for my life, and I know wonderful things are coming.

“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” Proverbs 16:9

Thanks for reading a little about my life. May the force be with you. Always.
