This month for ministry we get the privilege to serve at an orphanage for children with HIV, called Agape Home. This has been one of the most amazing times of the race. We get to love on kids and serve the home in every way we can. My favorite time is when I get to love on the new born babies.
The Lord has really grown me in this month. God has shown me the importance of the gospel. The first day we were here, I was in the nursery and tears filled my eyes with the love that I had for these children. I was holding a precious baby girl from Agape, and God told me how much He loves her. The world will say that she is forgotten and worthless, but God calls her chosen and priceless. Even though she is an orphan, she is a child of God and He has made her perfect.
I asked God an important question this month, “why?” What is the point of all of this? Why are there precious babies with HIV? I still don’t know why, but God did reveal something to me. You can feed people, but they will always be hungry again. The only thing that truly matters at the end of the day is the salvation from the blood of Jesus. Don’t get me wrong, it is always so valuable to serve people, but what is the point behind it if you don’t do it for Jesus. This life is temporary, we should focus on things that are eternal. God tells us to go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19) I want to follow that call with my whole life. Only one thing matters at the end of the day, and that is Jesus.
God is so good and loves each of us for exactly who we are. Thank you Lord for your never ending affection. We will never be able to comprehend the way He loves us. It is truly unimaginable. Thank you God for this life and this calling.
