I know, I’m confused too. Didn’t we just arrive in Africa? How can it be time to leave already??

Kenya was a wild month. We had so many different ministry opportunities, we made so many friends, we all leaned into some difficult things with Jesus, and we hit the half way point of the race.

My team combined with another team this month and we worked with the ministry Glory Shiners. This ministry invests in many different things but their main focus is a regeneration program in prisons and a preschool outside of Nakuru (which is where Glory Shiners is based). They also support a home for teenage mothers and a home for abandoned babies. Our teams split up to invest in all of these opportunities. Some people went to the same ministry the whole time and others switched around. But I think we were all touched deeply by at least one of the ministries.

One of my favorite things that we had the opportunity to do though was going to an unreached people group in the mountains for a weekend. Unreached people groups are defined as a group of people with less then 2% of self-propagating indigenous evangelicals to adequately spread the gospel throughout the people group. The population of unreached people groups in the world is 42.1%.

The people we visited were called the Pokot people and they live on Mount Paka. I will repost my teammate Fabienne Boss’ blog on our weekend because she describes it very well. But it was sobering and weighty to stand at a crater on top of the mountain and have our host tell us that everything we could see was unreached.

This is the family that hosted us and became our family. We miss them already!

MALAYSIA

We left Africa a week ago and have been in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia since then. It is HOT and HUMID.

We had debrief for a week with the whole squad and then split off into our teams again.

Malaysia is an ATL (Ask The Lord) month and my team will actually be going to Singapore. Singapore was on one of my teammate’s heart so we prayed about it and asked God to provide a way for us to go there. He has already provided in such big ways and we are excited to see what else he is going to do! We leave on Saturday. By the way, I am now 14 hours ahead of Central time in the US. It’s kind of crazy.

Prayer Requests

  1. Safe travels from Malaysia to Singapore.
  2. The heat and humidity has been making my hypoglycemia act up pretty bad. It has not been a fun week with that. Please pray that I can find ways to combat the symptoms and take care of myself as we will be in this weather for the next five months.
  3. Please pray for spiritual protection over my team.

Below is my one (or two) seconds a day from Kenya!
