1 month on the race!! no idea how I got here, but somehow I did. it’s weird how I find myself missing days that haven’t even passed yet. I know this is going to be a time I always look back on with fond memories. This month had its highs and lows, but I’m feeling overall confident that this is where the Lord wants me!!! He is truly working in this country and in my squad and in me and it is so sweet to see.
So heres a list of some things I don’t want to forget about month 1:
-our first travel day!
-going to the airport 2 AM feeling ready for the world.
-moving into our beautiful HOME. (house tour coming soon)
-sharing a mega bed with Helly.
-putting pictures of my family on my wall.
-my first bite of Xinia’s food (and literally every meal that followed).
-discovering chiky, and sponch, and mimon chinos, and many other Costa Rican snacks.
-trying to learn Spanish. (pura vida!)
-coloring for hours with kids that I quickly fell in love with.
-learning that having any sort of expectations of the race was a big FLOP.
-learning that the Lord’s plans are so much cooler than mine.
-learning to live in community, and love it.
-learning.
-kitchen dance parties.
-rainy days.
-getting cinnamon rolls from fresh market with Helly & Cy & Linds.
-BAGUETTES.
-hearing my teams testimonies. (I love them)
-snuggles with anyone who accepted them.
-worship nights with my squad.
-getting lost in multiple cities, multiple times.
-going to Casa De Dona Lela’s with Ave & Lindzer (my favorite women)
-playing the monster game 500 times at Lifting Hands.
-the Lord providing us with ministry in the most unexpected places. (like picking up leaves in the park & praying over maintenance men)
-Saturday night movie nights with my squad.
-when one of the teams threw a fancy dinner night for the squad.
-the rap battle that will forever go down in history.
-dancing on a volcano!
-dress up parties with breinin and jefferson.
-seeing a real life waterfall!
-swimming in a real life waterfall!
-cliff jumping!!!
-learning to live with less.
-buying meat kababs on the side of the street on the way to our month 1 debrief.
-learning to love the beach.
-hanging out with Jesus on the beach.
-watching my friends become surfers.
-resting.
-getting smacked with the Word in every session @ debrief.
-watching a surfing competition in Jaco. (okay surfing is actually so cool???)
-getting a butterfly tattoo.
-realizing that I am CHANGING.
This is just a small glimpse into my first month on the world race. I am PUMPED for what the Lord has in store for the next 8. May our hearts be open and expectant of His plan!!!!
