If I had to pick three of God’s creations that are my favorites, it would be hard to choose, but I think the sun, the mountains, and the ocean would top it all. Here in Guatemala I get to wake up to the sunrise coming out over the mountains, get to see the sunset at about 5:30 pm and see the stars later. I get to see all of this in one day. I’ve even had the opportunity to go to the beach to see the glistening ocean. I am in awe every time I see these. How could our God create such beauty?

The sun and stars.
Imagine a world without feeling the hot sun hit your skin or being able to see the sparkling stars at night. We would be cold all the time, could never get tan, and looking up at the sky at night would be so boring. Thank God we have the sun and stars. One of my favorite things to do here is wake up early to run out my door and watch the sunrise. I think of God’s glory every time I see this incredible spectacle. His glory reigns over this whole world and heaven and gives us life, hope, and love. When I was walking up the mountain on the sunrise hike the other week I got to see the very bright shining stars. Never in my life have I seen them so bright. I couldn’t even try to count them because there were so many. God created every single star and every one of us. That is insane.

The mountains.
Black Mountain. My favorite mountain ever. Every summer for the month of June I got to go Camp-Merri in NC and spend the whole month in the mountains having fun with my friends and learning about God. June was always the best month of the summer. Mountains make the whole landscape. They can be different sizes and colors. They can be grassy or rocky or snowy. God’s power is so big he can make mountains everywhere in the whole world. Wow. He can make mountains so big that we can ski/snowboard on them. Skiing is one of my favorite things to do in the winter. The thrill of racing down the mountain with so much adrenaline pumping through your body and getting to look down on the world below are such awesome feelings.

The ocean.
Emerald Isle and Martha’s Vineyard. Two places I call home. I could sit and look at the blue waves there for hours and never get tired of watching them. It’s so peaceful and calm. On the beach I am very often lulled to sleep while hearing the crashing sound of the waves. Emerald Isle, NC is where I get to go every summer to stay at our beach house and hangout with my family and friends. And Martha’s Vineyard, MA is where my faith has grown so much. I go to FOCUS summer camps every year with my friends from Raleigh and up north. Most mornings I would run to Lamberts Cove, which might be prettiest beach I have ever seen. Seeing the ocean anywhere reminds me of who I am…a child of God put into this world for a reason and a purpose. I am beautiful just like his creation. I am a princess of the King.

I continually go back to Genesis 1 to read about how God created nature in only 4 days. Our God is incredible. Isn’t it hard to believe the power of God and his ability to create such beautiful things?

Love to you all,
Nicole
