India,
I say this in the most loving way, you are not what I expected. When I thought about India or talked with anyone about the country, there was always an image of a busy city with lots of different smells. Even in Nepal, the Nepali people discussed India in a negative light and warned me that the Indian people are not the nicest. I was excited, but quite nervous to arrive in this country.
However, the Lord had a different image in His head, thank goodness! I am in Northeast India, which is a part of India that I didn’t realize existed (for security purposes, I cannot give specifics). Considering this area of the country is closer to Myanmar, Bangladesh and China, it is much different than the majority of India. The culture is different and the people don’t look like they are Indian(they will tell you this themselves). On top of that, the village that I live in is 100% evangelized. This village understands the beauty, truth and severity of this verse:
“And how are they to believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?” Romans 10:14
I will write a more detailed blog about the ministry I’m working with and the place I am living at. For now, I will tell you that the Lord blessed me and my squad so much for these two months in India! We are working with the ministry that began with the man who translated the Bible for the people group of the village we are in. From the moment that man said yes to the Lord and doing His work, there has been a revival in this area, which was only possible through the Lord working in many miraculous ways.
We have been able to partner with many ministries that are under this one very large Christian organization. This has looked like a lot of different things. We have been able to serve at a children conference, one day vbs for the neighborhood kids, rehabilitation center, child sponsorship program, many different Christian schools and we have aided with a lot of church construction.
All this to say that God is so good and doing incredible work here in India! India is a closed country, which means that evangelism(sharing about Jesus) is illegal. However, God is sovereign and powerful and has protected this Christian village against the fleshly power of the government. Please continue to keep this country and its people in your prayers, especially the Christians that are daily risking their lives for the sake of Christ.
God Bless,
Mykayla Munley
