Today was a good day. I set my alarm for 6:15 a.m. (but I woke up at 5:00 because I had to pee); ate breakfast at 6:30, then I had devotional at 7:00. By 7:15 I was on a bus headed to ministry. My team arrived at ministry around 8:15 but we didn’t have ministry ‘til 9:00 so we sat in the teachers lounge and read our bibles until 8:50. After that one of the teachers drove my half of the team to the Life Center. Everyday we set up tables and chairs and then we take turns preparing a devotional for the kids.  Today our devotional was on Matthew 4:4 “It is written, Man shall not live on bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” After that it was my job to give an English lesson. Today my lesson was about different parts of the body. After I gave them a short run through I tested them by teaching them the song ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes’. One of my teammates Avery, stepped up and helped me when I couldn’t remember the second part of the song (eyes and ears and mouth and nose… has been stuck in my head all day now). Afterwards we had the kids color and do other activities to help them learn the words. A man named Davis is in charge of our ministry everyday, and everyday kids yell his name nonstop (Davis! Davis! Davis!). since I taught the lesson they all learned my name so I had the pleasure (if that’s the right word?) of spending the day in Davis’ shoes. All day kids would say Molly! Molly! Molly! Then would proceed to ask me very long questions in Spanish! When they finish coloring we bring out food and drinks for them (prepared by amazing volunteers),  we send them on their way home, we sweep, we mop and then at 1:00 we do it all over again! The main difference between the morning and the afternoon class is that in the morning class we had 16 kids but in the 1 O’clock class we had 46 kids! Suffice to say ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes’ gets really loud when it’s being yelled by 46 kids. What we do varies from day to day but no matter what we do I have been amazed by how the Lord is working in us and in the kids. Please be praying for me and my team to have boundless energy, patience, and love for these kids. Please also be praying for myself and my team as we go out into the field everyday. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. May the Lord bless and keep you all!

Sincerely,

Molly McCrary
