Yes, you did read that right, my squad has had a route change! Instead of going to Malaysia after Thailand we will be rerouting and going to Myanmar!
So in light of this change, I decided to dedicate this weeks blog to answering questions that my friends and family have had for me about this exciting change-
Where is Myanmar?
Myanmar, also known as Burma, is in Asia and is bordered by Thailand, Bangladesh, and China.
Why?
-There are a lot of reasons that Adventures in Missions decided to reroute us, but the main one is simply the amazing opportunity that it is to reach such an untouched people group. Myanmar opened its boarders only 3 years ago, and it’s Christians were allowed to legally celebrate their first Christmas just this past year. The amount of people who haven’t had the chance the learn about Jesus or openly share their faith opens so many doors for my squad.
Are you still going to Swaziland?
-Yes! After our 3 months in Guatemala, we will spend 1 month in Thailand, 1 month in Myanmar, go back to Thailand for 1 month, then end in Swaziland for 3 months.
How do you feel about the change?
-I couldn’t be more excited. Myanmar’s culture is so unlike anything we have, or will ever experience- from the boys having to wear skirts to staying in towns where no one has ever heard of wifi. I can’t wait to see what God has planned for us in Myanmar!
