9:00am. September 11, 2018. Ephesus, Turkey. Sitting in a worship session. The lyrics are all in Turkish. I somewhat recognize the tune of the song, but can’t quite remember the words in English. Slightly irritated by that fact, I close my eyes, take a deep breath, and begin to get my heart in a position to worship the Lord through prayer. As I exhale, He asks me Megan, who am I? I immediately get an image of a mountain range in my mind. It is monstrous with snowy peaks way up in the clouds. One-by-one, attributes of God start writing themselves in the blue sky.
Glorious … Majestic … Holy … Almighty …
It goes on and on and on.
The book of Job comes to mind:
Job asks you a lot of questions throughout the first 37 chapters of the book, but You don’t answer him until chapter 38.
Yes, that’s true. I wasn’t responding, but I was listening the whole time.
Sometimes You do that with me too.
What was My reply to Job?
Well, You never actually answered his questions. Instead, You reminded him of who You are.
And how did Job respond to Me after that?
He surrendered and then he worshiped You. Looking up to You was the solution to his problems. You—simply You—were his answer.
Exactly. Look at Me. Focus on who I am. Set your mind on things above. It praises Me, it builds your faith, and it gives you all the answers you will ever need.
Powerful … Savior … Gracious … Most High …
owerful … Mighty … Gracious … Most High …
