Greetings from Cambodia! This is just a quick update about my world race team! After four amazing months of traveling and serving alongside the rest of team SOLDOD (Sons Of Light and Daughters OF Day), our squad has undergone an amazing/sad/awesome/bitter/sweet process known as “team changes”.
“What are team changes”, you say? Allow me to fill you in.
My squad, the 26 people I am traveling with is split into four teams that each partner with a different ministry within the country the squad is in that month. For the first four months of the race, I was in team SOLDOD along with Josh, Megan, Joe, Kayla, Andy, and Regan. This team became family to me as we laughed together, cried together, and served together in Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, and Vietnam. I’ll definitely miss seeing these guys everyday! Love each and every one of them!
Weren’t we cute?
Through much prayer and consideration, our three alumni squad leaders (three people who did the world race before and acted sort of like our guides and mentors, but so much more than that!) chose three among us to be raised up as new SQL’s to replace themselves. Our fearless new leaders are:
Left to right: Megan Small, Josh Schulz, Brie Rotelle! Here they are, each dressed as one of the alumni.
So proud of these guys! There are even two SOLDODs in the bunch, epic!
In this process, they also put together the new teams. These is the amazing people that I will spend the next few months with!
From left to right, we have Charla Benton(team leader!), Emily Orlich, Me ;), Morgan Fangman, Hunter Streff, and Kathryn Hamilton. You will now find links to their blogs on the left side of this screen!
As our team name, we decided on Sozo. Sozo is a greek word found in the New Testament that is translated as save, heal, make whole, or do well. To live sozo is to live life to the fullest, in the freedom that can only be found in a life that has been submitted to Him.
Please keep team Sozo in your prayers as we follow the call on our lives to teach others about Jesus, what He did for them, and the sozo life that He offers us all!
Did I spend over an hour doodling on this? Yes, yes I did. Did I probably have way too much fun doing it? Absolutely I did.
Fundraising: I’m still not sure when my new fundraising deadline is. Honestly, I keep forgetting to email and ask… but I’ll get on that right away haha. I’m currently a little over 80% funded, with $3,145 remaining to be I‘m 100%.
