Hello, and welcome to my blog! Allow me to introduce myself:

My name is Matthew Alexander, I am 23, a recent college grad, and I am so blessed to have this amazing opportunity in missions!

If I’m not at work, you can most likely find me with my nose in a book (or glued to my kindle). If I have bugged my friends enough, I might be playing a game of chess (I don’t know all the fancy strategies, but I’d still love to play you sometime). If it’s later in the evening I may be out and about with a few friends longboarding around the lake front and a few vacant parking garages. Also, let’s be honest, if you find me at my house, I’ll propably just be playing xbox or watching netflix, but here and there you may catch me fiddling with my ukulele, a guitar, just about anything that will make noise if I hit it.

I’ve been part of a christian family all my life, but  I think of my true “born again” christian life starting when my mom, my twin brother, and I started attending the local local Vineyard church when I was in middle school. I practically grew up in the youth group there and when on to help lead it for 6 years after high school. I played bass guitar on the worship team there for 6 years as well, and for the last 6 months before launching on the Race, I played cajon on the worship band of another neighboring Vineyard church.

It was shortly after graduating this last spring that I began to feel God calling me to something less conventional than the tale of the typical college grad. So, here I now find myself, planning fundraisers, and having to ask for a lot of help, which is something I’ve always been terrible at! But God always has His way of dealing with us and our junk and our shortcomings and turning it into something amazing that He can use for His glory.
